Internal Memory :-

  • It is also known as primary storage or main storage.
  • It is volatile in nature in case of RAM but ROM is non-volatile.
  • It is used to store data temporarily in case of RAM.
  • It stores data when power supply is on otherwise it removes data when power supply goes.
  • Internal memory is working memory.
  • Examples are RAM and ROM.

External Memory :-

  • It is also known as secondary memory or secondary storage.
  • It is non-volatile in nature.
  • They are used to store data permanently.
  • It stores data when power supply is on after that it saves data.
  • External memory is not working memory.
  • Examples are hard disk, pen drive etc.
